Upscale Disposable Tableware, A Blog

    Holiday Dessert Table

The holidays are here and it’s a great excuse to celebrate with a festive dessert table!  For this dessert table I used the tiny compostable caterware from Fineline Settings’ new SelfEco line.  For some reason, it just feels special to have dessert served in tiny individual portions.  Not only do they look elegant, they are also eco-friendly, zero-waste, plant-based, and compostable.  So, we can feel better about serving each guest five mini dessert offerings in individual containers.  Well, at least when it comes to satisfying their sweet tooth and saving the planet.

I wanted the dessert table to have a wintery theme to go along with the holidays during this season.  To set the stage, I hung white paper snowflake fans and a snowflake garland for an easy backdrop.  Then, I added a frosty green  garland, a lantern, some pillar candles, and tinsel to add some holiday sparkle.

Starting on the left, I used the 2 piece champagne flutes to serve cranberry punch.  To make them more festive, I added a pink sugar rim, a few raspberries and mint sprigs.

Beside the punch, I used the 4” square cocktail plates to serve slices of key lime pie and fresh strawberries.  I like how the plates have a convenient opening for a tiny fork.

I also used these beautiful Asian spoons, which  are great for one or two bites.  They were perfect for serving white chocolate mousse garnished with a raspberry and micro mint.

On the right of the dessert table, I used a two tiered dessert stand which is also available through Fineline Settings.  I like how it adds height and space for more sweet treats!  On the top tier, I used the 4 oz round bowl for serving a mini cupcake and strawberry macaroon.  I also really like that the bowls have a mini utensil holder.  It’s so convenient and still looks elegant.

On the bottom tier, I used the 3 oz mini cubes for individual cheesecake desserts.  I like that they are clear so the guests can see all the delicious layers of the dessert.

A festive dessert table can make any holiday or celebration special! The idea of serving tiny desserts in small portions is so fun and great for entertaining!  With Fineline Settings’ compostable tiny caterware, you can really get creative with your desserts this year while keeping the earth green.  So, please go ahead and start planning your five course dessert menu and enjoy the holidays!

    Thanksgiving Tablescape

Thanksgiving is not only a time for family and friends to gather around a feast, but also to remember our blessings and life lessons learned from the year.  I think it’s in everyone’s heart to find happiness and being grateful is one of the easiest ways to get to that state of mind.  So for this special occasion, I styled a Thanksgiving tablescape with gorgeous partyware products from Fineline Settings.  They have a nice selection of disposable plates, serving platters, utensils, and food storage solutions.  All the pieces used in this tablescape are also listed at the bottom.

For this tablescape, I wanted to create a calming and clean harvest inspired vibe.  I incorporated real flowers, greenery and produce like these light colored pumpkins to make the table inviting. I also used a few tapered candles to make it more special.

For the place settings, I kept it clean and simple with square white plates and silver cutlery. These colors also look very nice on top of a linen tablecloth.  I layered on a white solid square salad plate on top of the dinner plate and placed a mini pie on top.  The silver cutlery comes in a combo pack of knives, forks and spoons which made it convenient for setting out on the table.

For the drinkware, I love the elegance of these stemless champagne flutes for serving apple cider or another beverage and the stemless goblet for water.  It’s amazing how changing the drinkware can make drinking juice or water feel like a special occasion.  I also used a couple of carafes with lids to hold extra juice for easy refills.  I really like the lids to prevent spills in case someone is reaching over the table to pass the bread.

Once the meal is ready to be served, the floral arrangement, candles and some of the pumpkins can be moved to make room for the food platters.  I used the large oval white bowl to serve the turkey and dressed it with different fruits and herbs to keep with the harvest theme.

Fineline Setting’s collection of serving platters and bowls come in different sizes and shapes for the perfect presentation of each dish as displayed in the photo below.  Starting from the top left, I used a smaller white oval bowl to serve macaroni and cheese.  Next to it is a clear gravy boat that is great for pouring over mashed potatoes or turkey.  Beside the gravy, I used a larger white square platter for a cranberry apple salad.  Below the salad, I used a rectangular white platter to serve steamed green beans with walnuts.  I also added some white corn in a small dimpled bowl.  On the bottom left, I used a smaller white square platter to serve the buttery croissants.  Above the bread, I used a larger dimpled bowl to serve the creamy mashed potatoes.  They also have a variety of large spoons, forks, tongs, and salad tongs that are ideal for guests to serve themselves.

Here are additional photos of how beautiful the food looks on the platters and in the bowls.

Green beans and walnuts on a rectangular platter.

Creamy mashed potatoes in the large dimpled bowl.

Once the feast is over, it’s usually time to clean up and store the leftovers.  The super bowl plus collection comes with a variety of bowl sizes and lids that are perfect for storing leftovers in the fridge.  Or, packing for guests to take home with them. They are also wonderful for transporting food if you are making a fresh dish to bring over to someone else’s home to celebrate Thanksgiving.

The bowls are also available in single meal size containers if your guests only  want to take leftovers home for one meal. For example, this salad here will be an easy take home meal your guests can enjoy later on.

This Thanksgiving tablescape was a pleasure to style and the variety of partyware collections available through Fineline Settings made it easy to set an elegant table, present food beautifully, and store leftovers for later.  They are also available in other colors to match different Thanksgiving tablescape designs.  It may not always be easy to remember to be thankful during difficult times, but I’m grateful we live in a country where there is a holiday to help remind us.  Happy Thanksgiving!

    Something Blue Wedding Tablescape

Weddings are one of my favorite celebrations since there is so much beauty involved on so many levels.  I’ve been inspired to create a Something Blue Wedding Tablescape using elegant and affordable partyware from Fineline Settings.  According to some wedding experts, mixed shades of blue is a popular color palette for weddings in 2019.  With this in mind, I wanted to style an inviting table filled with gorgeous and romantic elements that would be perfect for this occasion. 12

To start off, I used pedestal arrangements for the centerpieces since they are also another popular trend for weddings this year.  I chose glass pedestals to go along with the glass candle holders.  For the flowers, I used blue hydrangeas to stick with the color palette.  I also used different size roses in white and light pink to add some complimentary contrast.  Roses are classic weddings flowers and always make a situation more romantic.  Grass is another popular element in wedding décor in 2019 so I added a few grass sprigs for drama and texture.  I filled in the rest of my arrangement with different greenery and smaller floral pieces to bring it all together.

Then I added some candles in short votives and tall tapered candles in between the floral arrangements to make it even dreamier.  A candlelit dinner or lunch always makes for an intimate dining experience, right?BLUE WED

For the place setting, I started with a dusty blue charger and then layered on the Caterer Choice 10” and 7” bone plates with gold trim.  I like how it comes in a combo pack which makes it easy to use.  Then I simply placed a knotted blue napkin over the top to keep with our blue color theme.  I added the Golden Secrets gold cutlery that also comes in a combo pack of forks, spoons, and knives to either side of the plates.  For drinks, I used the Flairware 8 oz 1 piece wine goblet and Flairware 5 oz 2 piece champagne flutes which is perfect for water and a toasting beverage. BLUE WED2

That completes the Something Blue Wedding Tablescape with mixed shades of blue and romantic elements that will be sure to invite love into a room.  The partyware from Fineline Settings really helps set the table for a gorgeous and memorable celebration.  You will look back and have no regrets about the beauty of your tablescapes!

    Spring Tablescape

Spring is finally here and with Easter and Mother’s Day coming up in the next few months, I’ve partnered up with Fineline Settings to create an easy tablescape that will work for both occasions!  Their disposable partyware and flatware are not only great quality, but also affordable.  What’s also exciting is that you can request samples so you can make sure their products are right for your gathering.  Now that is piece of mind when you are planning the perfect party!

My tablescape is inspired by the beauty, colors, and warmth of spring.  All shades of pink, coral, and peach are a trendy combination this year.  This palette invites feelings of joy, sunny days, and fun into any work of art whether its related to food, crafts, or party planning.

    Spring Table Settings

I started with a pastel yellow tablecloth to create a soft spring mood.  Then, I added a garden variety of flowers that come in different shades of pink, coral, and peach for the centerpiece.  I removed the larger flower heads from the stems and laid them side by side to create a faux garland in the center of the table.  Then I layered in smaller flowers like roses to create more texture.

From the Fineline Settings website, I chose the Round Foil Trim Plates Combo in bone/gold. I really like that it comes with a 10” dinner plate and a matching 7” appetizer plate that can be layered on top of each other.  I also chose the clear 10 oz Flairware bowls to place on top of the appetizer plates which will be great for a soup or salad.  For utensils, I used the Heavyweight Cutlery Combo in gold that comes in a convenient bag of forks, knives and spoons.  I love how they look like real utensils but they are disposable.  They also match the gold trim around the plates and gold makes everything look a little fancier!  For the drinkware, I chose the 8 oz 1 Piece Wine Goblet and the 6 oz 2 Piece Wine Goblet in clear since they match beautifully together and also tie in with the 10 oz bowl.  For the finishing touch, I folded a cloth-like napkin into a rose and placed it in the clear bowl to continue the floral design from the centerpiece to the plates.

This styled tablescape will be sure to bring in the spring sunshine to a lovely Easter brunch or make any mama feel special during Mother’s Day!  It’s simple touches like this that turn moments into memories. Make your celebrations even more memorable by serving it on elegant partyware.  Happy spring!

    1. DSC_1188-222907-editedThe Family Affair using The Renaissance Collection. Lead your guests to an elegant preset table with 10” dinner plate, topped with 7” salad plate and 12 oz bowl. Add a little bubbly champagne flute for the holiday toasts and the stemless wine glass for the festivities. Keep everyone hydrated with water glasses and pitchers for easy refill. Don’t forget your signature cocktails, like the Moscow mule mug and strong sophisticated cutlery. Keep your decor the focus by using the 14” x 14” black square platter pleaser for your main dish display and black heavy weight serving spoons, forks, and tongs for plating and serving. For the grand finale, use the clear cake stand to display all the beloved treats of the holiday. Remember, the height of the cake stand will allow your guests to see the beauty of the dessert and easy access to enjoy 2nd helpings. YUM!

    2. JPG_0802-259788-editedThe Modern Hip Party using Wavetrends Collection. Show your chic flare to all your friends at your grab and go buffet celebration. When your guests all contribute a dish to pass – give them cool hip table settings to display their creations. Buffet style serving brings hearty appetites which means stocking the table with 6” and 9” dinner plates, festive cutlery rolls both black and silver, clear serving bowls for those tasty casseroles, and be the hostess with the mostest – have plenty of serving silverware (because no one remembers the serving utensils for cutting homemade pie or LARGE fork/spoon for dishing up salads!) However, for true fashion forward panache, give your guests the durable cocktail plate invention to marry with their champagne flute or martini glass while mingling and catching up on all the gossip and chit-chat. Oh! Don’t forget those disposable customized shot glasses at your bar for the ongoing toasts of friendship and reminiscing of good times past. Finally, since it is YOUR party, perfect opportunity to show off your culinary skills (without breaking the menu budget) using the Fineline Tiny Tempts trays, bowls, and cubes for portioning and tiny forks, spoons, picks, and tongs for eating.

    3. JPG_1704-129235-editedThe Caterer’s Celebration using Gold and Silver Splendor. When catering an event, expectations run high with the b’s and d’s (bread plate on the left drinks on the right!) of etiquette or the serve on the left clear from the right formality. Customer expectations are a posh and fancy reception; while the caterer needs to arrange for a sturdy but swanky debut of food service. Don’t let the two opposing expectations stress you out for your event, mix and match color, size, and shape to create the perfect blend of adult sophistication and durability. Catering service always includes coursing of the event meal and serving a plentiful helping of the cuisine. Service needs vary from 4” cocktail hour plates and beverage pitchers to starter salads and service tongs or 12 oz soup bowls and spoons. Next the catering experience graduates to the main fare needing 10” plate either round or square trimmed with your choice of gold or silver (for the best deal take advantage of the 7”/10” combo solution). Don’t forget all those different drink flavors from champagne, wine (red and white), water, mixed beverages to coffee, tea, and soda. Here are some tricks of the catering trade - Use simple and sturdy large dome lid and trays to allow for double duty with easy transport of items into and out of the venue while also perfect for serving single serve items (We love those tiny cocktail picks, spoons, and forks for these occasions too – clean, easy, and individual). Now for the b’s and d’s etiquette trick😊 – never know which side your stemless wine glass, water, champagne should be set vs. your bread plate and knife – With your left hand touch your first finger and thumb while holding the other three fingers straight (making a lower case b) do the same action with your right fingers (making a lower case d). Bread plate goes on the left (aka lower case b for bread); Drinks go on the right (aka lower case d for drinks).

    4. DSC_6427-038880-editedTake Home Party in a bag using Solid Squares. Holidays bring hustle and bustle of shopping and cheer leaving you no time to prepare for those impromptu visits from out of town friends. Don’t stress! With just a little finesse, Fineline’s 10 bag/12 case events on the go packaging coupled with a stop at your favorite restaurant will bring entertaining success! This type of readiness is prepared with plates of all sizes including cocktail, dessert, salad, large and small dinner, and large and small bowls. Can’t decide on a color or theme - don’t fret over those small details each item comes in all three colors of black, white, and clear. Use our super large bowls and compartment trays to display each side dish and as an added bonus – store all the leftovers in the same container just use the corresponding lid to cover and refrigerate.

    5. FlareWare - Plates-088964-editedKids Table using Flairware. Let's face it the key to any successful party is keeping the kids happy and fed so the adults aren’t stressed wanting to leave. How do you get kids to eat – make it fun and silly. Keeping in mind the small appetites - first place a 6”round dessert plate then below it but not touching place a 7”round salad plate; place black fork dangling off one side of the 7” round plate and place a black knife off the other side of the 7” round plate. Refold the black napkin (from the pre-rolled cutlery) into a long 2” rectangle and drape between the plates; place blueberries from your fruit tray as eyes mouth and buttons on shirt while a baby veggie carrot is a nose – instant Snowman setting. AND here we go again with those Tiny Tempts (can’t get enough of those cute containers) keep them on hand to dole out lil candies or allow the kids to eat using the tiny cutlery for “just the right size bites”. It’s a perfect game to challenge themselves about how many bites it will take with the little fork before they are full.

BONUS TIP - There is one last reminder for every table setting – ITS ALL DISPOSABLE. That’s right no dishes, no mess, and leftover package ready. When the party is done clean up is fast and back to everyday living.
