COME TOGETHER WITH THOSE YOU LOVE IN CELEBRATION of the remarkable triumph of the Israelites emancipation from slavery in ancient Egypt! Spend these precious days to reflect on all that you have accomplished, and all of the people who mean the most to you.

Utilize these revitalizing days of rest to remember that every life is unique, special and deserving of celebration; and that love is the most important aspect of life.

THIS IS A TIME TO PARTAKE IN DELICIOUS “CHAMETZ-FREE” MEALS, AND WHOLE-HEARTED REJOICING! For those of you who may not be entirely familiar with what “Chametz” are, it means: anything containing even a trace of leavened grain (any edible substance containing wheat, rye, oats, spelt or any article which could be derived from the aforementioned grains). These foods and their derivatives are forbidden during Passover; therefore, those practicing the holiday must avoid such things as: Most breads, cookies, pastas, almost all alcoholic beverages, etc

The weeks leading up to Passover are spent ridding the home of Chametz, and culminates with a ceremonial hunt through one’s home the night before Passover. Like a fun game, a family will search throughout their home thoroughly in order to find any overlooked food.

Families on the following morning erect a traditional pyr; and the unpermitted, carb-filled food is burned ceremoniously.

After the burning of the Chametz, there is the grand Seder: The Seder is a giant and admirable feast held on the first two nights of Passover.

Matzah, bitter herbs, wine, and the recitation of the Haggadah make up the traditional celebration. The Haggadah is the story intimately detailing the Exodus from Egypt. The reading of the Haggadah is considered an obligation that every practicing family takes on with pride; holding themselves responsible for sharing the story of their history with the younger generations.
